Information Communication Technology (ICT) Department

Madam Rose Karanja

Head of ICT Departmentnt

Welcome to the Department of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Our department started back in 2017.

Over the year, the department has expanded and continues to reflect and engage the evolving ICT landscape.

Given the ever-changing digital environment in which new platforms of communication continue to emerge, we are committed to providing an innovative curriculum that facilitates experiential learning opportunities and collaborative pedagogical approaches that encourage students to develop critical research, thinking and methodological skills as well as creative capacities and training in ICT. Currently, ICT is only one of a few programs in CITC that combines a theory/practical-based curriculum. This combination of theory and practice provides our students with a very unique experience.

The institute has adequate facilities and resources that enable our students to get hands-on experience at any time. These include four computer labs which are fully furnished with internet connected computers.

Our students have excelled in both class work and practical making them exceptionally marketable in the job market. We have a very motivated teaching and support staff in the department who contribute greatly in the success of the students. We have been registering a 90%-100% pass from our students. Our lecturers are highly trained and qualified enough for the success of our students.

Our programs, at both, Diploma and certificate level, embrace one of the institute pinnacles-social justice. As such, the goals of ICT include:

  1. Developing ICT literacy and fostering active, democratic citizenship in an increasingly mediated world.
  2. Providing opportunities for creative empowerment through competencies in ICT. Students who graduate from our programs end up with both the theoretical and practical skills that are in demand; the internships we offer help students generate a portfolio to showcase their work to potential employers.
As you browse through our website, we hope you will sense the excitement and enthusiasm among departments, students and staff that our programs generate. And, we encourage you to contact us with any questions, requests for more information and/or personalized tours of our facilities.
